SightLoop Setup & Support

A practical guide for connecting ChatGPT, installing players, pairing, and publishing.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings and then Apps & Connectors. During the private pilot, add https://sightloop.net/mcp as a custom connector; after directory approval, choose SightLoop directly.
  2. Choose Connect and sign in with your SightLoop church-administrator account.
  3. Review the requested read, draft-edit, and publish permissions before approving.
  4. Ask ChatGPT to list your channels, find existing media, or prepare an announcement draft.
  5. Review the complete preview before explicitly confirming publication. Draft changes alone never change live screens.

Disconnect access at any time from Studio → ChatGPT. The first connector release organizes media already in SightLoop; upload new files through Studio.

Before you begin

Use a currently supported Roku device connected to a 16:9 television or display. Confirm that the Roku can reach the internet, the TV is set to the correct HDMI input, and a SightLoop administrator can sign in on a phone or computer.

Install and pair SightLoop

  1. Install the SightLoop app using the pilot or Store instructions supplied by support.
  2. Open SightLoop. The TV displays a QR code and a short-lived activation code.
  3. Scan the TV’s QR code with a signed-in phone, or choose Add Screen in Studio and enter the code shown on the TV.
  4. Name the Screen, add its location, and optionally assign a Display Channel.
  5. Choose Add & Link Screen. The TV continues automatically and stays linked.

Assign and publish

  1. Open Screens in Studio and assign the screen to one Display Channel.
  2. Open that Display Channel and confirm the slide order, timing, and schedule.
  3. Use Preview to inspect the loop, then select Publish.
  4. The Roku checks for a new manifest periodically. Use Refresh in diagnostics to check now.

Keep the display available

Roku's Bandwidth Saver can stop streaming and return to the Home screen after four hours without remote activity. Turn it off before using a Roku for unattended signage.

  • On Roku, open Settings → Network → Bandwidth saver and choose Off.
  • Open Settings → Theme → Screensaver wait time and choose Disable screensaver.
  • If available, open Settings → System → Power → Auto power savings and disable automatic power saving.
  • Disable the television's sleep timer, eco timer, and automatic power-off setting.
  • Use the Roku wall adapter instead of powering the Roku from the TV's USB port.
  • Configure the television so it remains on the Roku's HDMI input.
  • After a power interruption, reopen SightLoop from the Roku home screen.

A normal Roku application cannot guarantee that it will launch automatically after every power interruption.

Troubleshooting

Screen shows a network message

Open Roku network settings and run the connection check. Restart the Roku and router when appropriate. If valid cached slides exist, SightLoop continues showing them during a temporary outage.

New slides are not appearing

Confirm the channel was published—not only saved as a draft. Open SightLoop diagnostics, compare the current channel version to Studio, and choose Refresh.

The TV code does not work

TV codes expire after 10 minutes and work only once. Reopen SightLoop to display a fresh code. If replacing a Roku assigned to an existing Screen, reset that Screen first and then link the new TV code.

The TV powers off or leaves SightLoop

First confirm Settings → Network → Bandwidth saver is Off. Then review the television sleep timer, HDMI-CEC behavior, Roku power-saving settings, and screensaver. SightLoop cannot override Roku account settings, television firmware, or power loss.
