A few minutes to get connected
Start with the channels you already have. It is usually best to ask, “What SightLoop channels do I have?” at the start of a session. Pick the exact channel from that list before making changes—especially when several channels have similar names.
Have your approved SightLoop administrator sign-in ready. Your church’s channels should already be set up in Studio; assign your screens there before publishing.
- Install the official plugin. Open the SightLoop listing in ChatGPT, check that the publisher is El Roi Digital, and select Install plugin (the plus button).
- Start a new chat. Ask ChatGPT to use SightLoop, or type @ and choose SightLoop. If prompted to connect, sign in on sightloop.net with your church-administrator account.
- Review the connection. Check the organization and the requested permissions to read channels, edit drafts, and publish. Approve only the access you intend to grant. Never paste your password into a chat.
- Try a read-only request. Confirm ChatGPT finds the right church’s channels before asking it to change anything.
Use SightLoop to list my channels and summarize their current published versions. Do not edit or publish anything.
On a phone? Use the same ChatGPT account. If installation or connection is unavailable in your mobile view, complete it in ChatGPT on the web first. Check your workspace’s plugin permissions if SightLoop is missing. Official OpenAI plugin help.
Let the plugin help with
Finding channels and existing media, arranging draft slides, changing image durations or schedules, renaming channels, and previewing and publishing a channel you approve.
Keep these steps in Studio
Uploading new artwork, creating or deleting channels, pairing TVs, and assigning screens. ChatGPT’s image creation is separate from the SightLoop plugin.
From an idea to a welcome on screen
Imagine it is Saturday and you need a fresh welcome for Sunday. ChatGPT can help you create the artwork; Studio brings the file into SightLoop; the plugin helps prepare and publish the saved draft.
One important handoff: the SightLoop plugin cannot upload a new image or import an attachment from your chat. Download the image and upload it in Studio first. Attaching it to ChatGPT alone does not add it to SightLoop.
1. Ask ChatGPT for the artwork
Use ChatGPT’s image-generation feature, if available on your account. Here is a starting point you can adapt:
Create one landscape 16:9 church welcome slide, ideally 1920 × 1080 pixels. Use a peaceful sunrise, warm gold and charcoal tones, generous margins, and large text readable across a church lobby. Include only this wording: "WELCOME" and "We’re glad you’re here." Keep the text away from the edges. Do not invent a church name, logo, date, or service time. Give me a downloadable PNG or JPG image, not a presentation file.
Review spelling, dates, contrast, and readability before downloading. Requesting 16:9 does not guarantee the downloaded file has that ratio. Check the actual dimensions; if needed, fit the artwork into a 1920 × 1080 canvas in your design editor and export a PNG or JPG. Do not simply stretch the text.
- Landscape 16:9: 1920 × 1080 is the recommended presentation size.
- PNG or JPG, up to 20 MB: a PowerPoint or PDF file is not a slide image.
- Large text, simple message: leave room around the edges and test readability from a distance.
- Public-display content only: use artwork you have rights to share; avoid private prayer requests, personal details, or confidential information.
For image creation and revision, see OpenAI’s image-generation guide. SightLoop does not generate the artwork itself.
2. Upload it and save the draft in Studio
- Open Studio → Display Channels and choose your target channel—for example, Sunday Announcements.
- Upload the PNG or JPG. Review the selected image and choose Add to Draft.
- Give the slide a recognizable title, such as Sunday Welcome, then select Save Draft and wait for Saved.
The image is now in that channel’s saved draft. It is not live yet. Because it is already there, ask ChatGPT to edit that slide rather than add it again.
3. Ask SightLoop to prepare the loop
Use SightLoop. Find my "Sunday Announcements" channel and read its current draft. I uploaded and saved a slide titled "Sunday Welcome" in that channel. Find that existing slide—do not add another copy. Set it to 12 seconds and move it to the beginning, keeping every other slide in its current relative order. Preview the complete channel, including all pending changes and timing. Do not publish; wait for my separate confirmation.
Replace the sample channel and slide titles with yours. If ChatGPT cannot find the slide, return to Studio and confirm you saved it in the connected organization. When the preview is right, follow the separate confirmation step below.
A little help for the weekly routine
These are example requests, not actions already performed. Use your real channel and slide names. Ask ChatGPT to clarify ambiguous matches and leave unrelated content alone.
Get the Sunday loop ready
Put the welcome first and the next step last, without moving slides one by one.
Before you start: Your channel already contains slides titled "Welcome" and "Next Steps".
Use SightLoop to read the current "Sunday Announcements" draft. Move "Welcome" to the beginning and "Next Steps" to the end. Keep every other slide in its current relative order. Ask me to choose if a title matches more than one slide. Show the full preview and timing, then wait for my confirmation before publishing.
What to check: Check every slide in the preview, including changes saved by another administrator.
Reuse a slide for another ministry
Bring an existing announcement into a second channel without uploading it again.
Before you start: A saved channel contains "Food Pantry", and your "Lobby" channel already exists.
Use SightLoop. Read the "Lobby" channel and find existing "Food Pantry" media in my organization. If there are multiple matches, show them and ask which to use. If that media is not already in the Lobby draft, add it once at 15 seconds; otherwise use the existing slide. Keep all other slides. Preview the full channel and wait for my separate publish confirmation.
What to check: Each channel has its own draft and publish step. Reusing an image does not sync channel edits.
Give an event slide an end date
Help keep yesterday’s invitation out of tomorrow’s announcement loop.
Before you start: Upload and save an "Upcoming Event" slide. Have exact dates, times, and a time zone ready.
Use SightLoop to read "Sunday Announcements" and find "Upcoming Event". Ask me for its exact start date, end date, times, and time zone before changing its schedule. Keep other slides unchanged. Then preview the entire channel and restate those times in my time zone. Do not publish until I confirm that preview in a separate message.
What to check: A schedule affects playback only after publication. Confirm both boundaries and the time zone.
Give a detailed announcement more time
Let visitors finish reading a busy slide without slowing down the entire loop.
Before you start: Your "Lobby" channel contains an image slide titled "Volunteer Opportunities".
Use SightLoop to read the "Lobby" draft. Change only the image slide "Volunteer Opportunities" to 20 seconds. Leave its artwork, schedule, the other slides, and the channel settings unchanged. Show the full preview and wait for my separate confirmation before publishing.
What to check: Slide titles are labels. Changing a title does not rewrite the words inside the image.
Do a pre-service check
See what is saved, what is published, and what still needs a decision.
Before you start: Connect the correct church organization. No changes are needed for this check.
Use SightLoop to list my active channels and their published version numbers. Read "Sunday Announcements" and summarize its current draft, slide order, timing, schedules, and whether it has unpublished changes. Do not edit or publish anything. Tell me what I should review in Studio before service.
What to check: This is a channel check, not a live TV health check. Verify screen assignment and connectivity in Studio.
You decide when it goes live
Preparing a draft and publishing it are different actions. Publication sends the entire current channel draft to its assigned screens—not just the slide you discussed. That can include another administrator’s saved changes.
- Ask for a fresh preview. Review the channel name, every slide, order, durations, transition, and schedule. Open Studio if you need to inspect the artwork visually.
- Check the destination. Verify the channel’s screen assignments in Studio. Several screens may share one channel.
- Confirm in a separate message. Only after reviewing the preview, say which channel you want published. If the draft changes or the preview expires, ask for a new preview and confirm again.
- Check the result. Look for SightLoop’s successful publication result and version number. Connected players pick up the update on their next refresh; an offline screen cannot receive it immediately.
Yes—publish the exact "Sunday Announcements" preview I just reviewed to that channel’s assigned screens.
Copying a prompt here does not send it, edit a draft, or publish anything.
Good questions before you begin
Can I ask it to publish an image I just generated?
Yes, after you download it, upload it to a channel in Studio, choose Add to Draft, and Save Draft. Then ask SightLoop to find that saved slide and prepare a preview. The plugin cannot fetch the generated image from the chat or upload it for you.
Can it change the wording inside an image?
No. A slide title is only a label; changing it does not alter the artwork. Revise the image in ChatGPT or your design editor, upload the revised file in Studio, save the updated draft, and review a fresh preview before publishing. Never assume a label edit corrected a date printed on a slide.
What if I use Canva or PowerPoint?
You can use artwork from either. Export landscape 16:9 pages as PNG or JPG images, then upload them in Studio. Studio also accepts Canva ZIPs containing those images. The plugin does not edit a Canva design or import a PowerPoint deck directly.
Why can’t it find my new slide or channel?
Check the connected organization and exact title, and make sure the upload was added to a channel and saved. An uploaded file that is not referenced by a saved channel is not discoverable through the plugin. Ask ChatGPT to reread the channel after saving; do not repeatedly ask it to add the same slide.
Can I use one announcement on several TVs?
Yes. Assign those screens to the same channel in Studio, then publish that channel once. If the TVs use different channels, prepare and preview each channel separately and confirm each publication. The plugin does not pair TVs or change screen assignments.
Do I need a special account or ChatGPT plan?
You need an approved SightLoop church-administrator account. Installing the plugin does not create one or grant access to another church. ChatGPT plugin and image-generation availability depends on your account, region, and workspace policies; check the listing and your ChatGPT settings. Contact support if you need SightLoop access.
How do I disconnect or get help?
Open Studio → ChatGPT and disconnect the relevant connection. You can also manage the plugin in ChatGPT. For help, email support@sightloop.net with your church name and what happened. Never send passwords or security codes. Read our privacy policy for data-handling details.
Start with one channel. Keep it simple.
Connect SightLoop, try the read-only request, then prepare one small draft change.
